Brazil increased scrap imports 13 times

In 2018, Brazil increased imports of ferrous scrap to a record 266.8 thousand tons, which is 13 times more compared to 19.6 thousand tons a year earlier.

This is the highest import rate since 1997. The last time Brazil set a record in 2010 was 134.3 thousand tons of scrap.

The main suppliers of scrap for Brazil in 2018 were Canada (99.1 thousand tons) and the USA (90.4 thousand tons).
