According to Reuters, it is expected that the annual steel production in China in 2018 will set an annual record of 923 million tons, and next year will be reduced to 900 million tons. This was reported by the government on Monday, December 10th.
According to Li Xinchuang, President of the China Metallurgical Industry Planning and Research Institute, steel production in the PRC grew from 831.73 million tons in 2017. “Steel production is due to the general economic situation and demand in both the domestic and global markets,” Li said at the briefing, adding that the ongoing campaign to combat pollution in China and the uncertainty associated with trade friction in China and the US also will affect the steel market.
