The reasons for the decline in exports of ferrous scrap in 2018..

According to customs statistics promulgated by the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine, Ukrainian enterprises in 2018 reduced exports of ferrous scrap by 33% compared to the same period in 2017 - to 327.547 thousand tons.

Main reasons:

1) increase in export duties on ferrous scrap in May 2018;

2) the introduction of sanctions in respect of one of the main consumers of Ukrainian scrap OJSC "Moldavian metallurgical plant" in June 2018;

3) decrease in world demand for scrap metal due to significant supply of cheap semi-finished products from China.
