Adnan Aslan, President of the Turkish Association of Steel Exporters (CIB), noted that despite all the obstacles, exports are growing and in 2019 they plan to switch to new markets.
According to the data for 2018, announced by the Association of Steel Exporters, exports increased to 20.8 million tons, an increase of 21.4% compared with last year. Exports in value terms increased by 36.1% to 15.6 billion dollars.
Last year, the Turkish steel industry exported the most to all construction steel, flat-rolled products and welded pipes. The regions with the largest exports were the European Union, the Middle East and North America. The largest decline in exports occurred in the United States, Iraq, Algeria and the United Arab Emirates.
Aslan emphasized the need for an aggressive export policy and said that they will re-orient exports to the regions of Southeast Asia, West Africa and Latin America.
