"Ukrzaliznytsya" this year wants to sell scrap metal at 300 million USD. This was announced by Andrei Ryazantsev, director of economics and finance at Ukrzaliznytsia, at the conference of the Ukrainian Logistics Alliance.
"In 2018, we are going to help out another 300 million UAH from scrap metal," he said.
According to Ryazantsev, as of today, Ukrzaliznytsi has a total of 2 billion UAH of scrap metal.
"This is not only cars, but also the most different property. For example, when the railway tracks change, the old rail becomes unusable, it is cut off and it needs to be sent for scrap," Ryazantsev said.
In addition, today in Ukrzaliznytsia about 16 thousand cars that are no longer able to function are to be written off.
“These are cars that are not suitable for use. We wanted to write them off this year, but it didn’t work because of the order ... Now the Ukrzaliznytsia Supervisory Board approved the final documents, and the process will go on,” Finance "Ukrzaliznytsi."
According to Ryazantsev, the procedure for retraining an unusable wagon for scrap metal is very long. At first, UZ is obliged to sell this car on the ProZorro as a car, even if only part of it is offered for sale.
“Even if there is only one beam left from the car, initially UZ should sell it as a car. After no one buys it as a car, it can be retrained and only then sold as scrap metal,” Ryazantsev says, adding that while the railway department I could not even write off the "remnants" of the old Beskyd tunnel.
