Last week (November 13 – 20), ferrous scrap prices rose in all international markets due to higher prices for long products and limited supply in the US and EU markets. Forecast price range for ferrous scrap for the current week – $320–330/mt CIF.

Last week (November 13–20), domestic prices for ferrous scrap by metal enterprises did not change. Steel smelting increased to 417 thousand tons, and scrap remains in the warehouses of metal plants decreased to 118 thousand tons.

Last week (November 6-13), ferrous scrap prices increased simultaneously in all key international markets. Metallurgists are actively replenishing stocks for the winter, which allows suppliers to dictate prices.

Last week, the purchase prices of metal enterprises for ferrous scrap at Ukrainian market did not change. Expectations of an increase in the price of scrap from the beginning of November to UAH 5900/mt have not yet come true.

According to the results of 10 months, ferrous scrap colleclion and supplies of scrap in Ukraine fell by 10%. The industry has been in stagnation for several years due to export duties and imbalances with domestic prices, which significantly lower than world prices. It is expected that by the end of 2020, scrap collection in Ukraine will amount to 2.8 million tons. scrap metal supplies – 2.85 million tons.
